Since opening in 1939, Hotel Vancouver has celebrated the holidays with elaborate multi-course dinners. We’re taking a look though the hotel’s archives at vintage holiday menus from past Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day dinners. Though a lot of the starters on the menus have fallen out of favour with modern diners, such as the Fruit Supreme – a marinated mixed fruit bowl, Green Turtle Soup, and Jellied Chicken Broth, many of the mains are still as popular as they were 80 years ago. A featured entrée you can still find in Notch8 Restaurant is the signature slow roasted Canadian Prime Rib accompanied by Yorkshire Pudding. Browse through the vintage holiday menus below to see what other dishes have stood the test of time.
